Post-COVID

 Long COVID

If you have been infected with COVID-19 and are still experiencing symptoms after 3 months, this is referred to as post-COVID, also known as Long COVID. The consequences have a significant impact on your daily life and general functioning: you experience poorer physical health, and the unpredictable nature of the illness causes uncertainty and stress. Often, you may be unable to return to work (fully) for an extended period and are unable to participate in social life.

The most common complaints are:

  • persistent fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • A nặng ngực
  • heart palpitations
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Sleep problems
  • concentration problems
  • memory loss
  • brain fog
  • Depressive feeling
  • Difficulty with sensory processing
  • muscle weakness
The invisible illness often makes you feel unheard or unseen. Recognition is lacking and even (company) doctors don't always recognise the effects of post-COVID. All of this results in your world becoming very small, your resilience being minimal, and you possibly feeling lonely as well.

Brain-Fit offers
A multidisciplinary approach to tackling post-COVID.

When addressing post-COVID, it's important to know what stage you are at. What symptoms are you experiencing? What are the causes of the symptoms you are experiencing? We use the recovery pyramid for this:

We start at the beginning. Your brain controls all other systems in the body. If there is instability in the brain, physical, mental, and emotional complaints arise. Our Neuroptimal® neurofeedback training detects this instability and relays the information to the brain so it can correct itself. It calms the nervous system, reduces overstimulation, promotes a positive mindset, and decreases stress.

At the same time, within the mid-range, we are looking at a specific recovery plan based on supplements and dietary advice. The step-by-step recovery plan has 4 parts:

  1.  Inhibiting viral activity and neuro-inflammation
  2. To calm the immune system
  3. Restore mitochondrial capacity (more energy)
  4. Tissue regeneration of lungs and muscles

Specific supplements and dietary advice for each of the 4 steps will ensure faster recovery from the residual symptoms of a COVID infection.

Finally, with PNEI (Psycho-Neuro-Endocrino-Immunology), we look at how the nervous system, endocrine system, and immune system communicate with each other. We use the Neuro4Profiel test for this. Neurotransmitters determine how ’messages’ are sent through your body. When the function of your neurotransmitters is reduced, you will notice this, for example, in feelings of anxiety, increased irritability, less drive and decisiveness, a slow metabolism, insufficient emotional control, reduced sleep quality, or fatigue.

When treating post-COVID, we often first see an increase in your capacity to handle things. You'll be better at processing stimuli, have a clearer head, be less tired, sleep better, and be able to focus more. Often, these kinds of welcome improvements provide the foundation that allows you to dare to take further steps. Ultimately, you will be able to enjoy a full social and working life again.

Thanks to our multidisciplinary approach, with plenty of room for personal attention, we have been able to help many clients with Post-COVID complaints.
